I've been suffering with migraines for about 5 years and am currently awaiting an appointment with a specialist. My migraines don't follow a "normal" pattern and my GP doesn't know what to do with me anymore. I am currently on beta blockers as a preventative and naproxen and sumitripan to try and get rid once I have one but they are getting worse in intensity and frequency. I have noticed I get them following exercise (and no I'm not dehydrated!) if I have a hot bath and also hormonal, though am on the pill so am told that shouldn't happen. Apart from that there's no rhyme or reason! Any ideas on why or what I can do I'd really appreciate it as they're stopping me from doing things including exercise and am starting to feel quite isolated. Thanks!

Hi, hope you're having that neurologist appointment soon. It sounds like you may need to "rotate" your preventative. I've found that one drug may work well for awhile, then I'll need to switch to another, then come back to the first one at a later date. Since only your doc can do this for you, there's not much you can do at this point, except to continue your current management plan, and keep working on trying to ID patterns in your headaches that might show new triggers.
