Complicated migrain headaches

I have these migraines also. Auras, speech issues, confusion… Topamax worked for me for a while, now im on a calcium channel blocker.

yes dwight ,i suffe all that and more.i ended up at a spinr dr and got my nerve tree burnt,ive had the same migraine since may 2,2007.ive suffered with them since i was a young kid.i at the point where im not allowed to drive,due to passing out.my drs have me doing yoga,relaxation therepy and not to mention all the meds im on.some days it gets so bad i just cry all day.my first time of (i call going stiff)i was takin to hospital and they did a spinal tap fluid pressure was 26 and the dr called it thromboisis(big long name),but due to high pressure.anyway when he released the pressure it helped some.dont know if this helps,but i hope it does.good luck

I too have suffered from migraines since I was young…My first was when I was nine years old. At some point in time I have had each of these types of symptoms. I have only had the paraletic once and the biggest issue I had was not being able to speak. I have not found anything that actually works for me…I can only go into my room, make it cool and dark crawl into bed and sleep. Sometimes I can work while I have them, but other times I cannot…when I do work through them by the time I stop I am afraid to because I know once my muscles relax the migraine is going to hit hard…I do think you need to be careful about the weakness on the left side. Keep us up on what is going on with you.

YES!!!! I have these too!!! They are awful and SO embarrassing!!! I was trying to enroll for school when one came on and my speech got all messed up! I knew what I wanted to say, but the words were not coming out right at all! I have been on Topamax for a while now and it has helped!! I have had a few migraines but they have not been as severe! Complicated migraines are hard because we can't take the traditional "abortive" medications. We have to find a way to prevent them! Not fun at all!!! Good luck!!!

I am in the medical field I had to look this up because never heard of complicated migraine before, the symptoms that you mentioned, I too get these but thankfully not very much. What I done to limit these migraine attacks from occuring is taking look at what are the trigger such as foods, stress and environment, etc can be the culprits. For the sensitivity to light and sound just make sure you are in a dark and quiet room and just rest until you are able to handle it.

When your body starts to go paraletic and having speech problems is something that you have to keep an eye on because that can lead to strokes basically when this does happen go to the ER immediately.
