Lately I seem to be keeping a migraine. I will take an over the counter pain pill and try to rest but it will just slack off and then come back full force. I don't have insurance so I can't just go to the doctor like I need too but does anyone else have constant migraines like this, and what do you do to help it?

hi i kno how u feeel ive had my migraine since may 2 ,2007 .i was in ur shoes about no insurance and would go to work with it.i worked in a warehouse operating a big machine that pullde palets off racks.i would go home crying cuz my head hurt and i was sick to my stomach.i went a yr b4 iy put me into the hospital.while in the hospital they noticed i didnt have insurance and helped me fill for ssdi. while waiting to be denied ,i was sent to 6 diferent neuros,3 different sleep studies, alot of experiment treatment( which fall under some kind of government thing where i didnt have to pay for.as of now my wall banger of a migraine is at a 7 an i take up to 28 pills aday just to keep it from getting worse.the drs. call it a intractable migraine. means it will never go away just get down to 6 or 7 and no lower. b4 when i had the migraines like urs nothing helped ,i found i just had to lock myself in my bdrm with lites off ,very cold, quite, and a sleep aid for days.it let up some but every 4 hours i took a sleep aide u get ove counter. so i suggest getting a sleeping aide,to add to excederine migraine take every for hours.good luck i hope this helps.

I take maxalt when I just have to, but if possible I use over the counter meds. I also strap frozen gel packs tightly to my head, so that it adds pressure, to help relieve some of the pain. I would like to save money to possibly purchase one of those machines called sootheaway. It looks like it would be a life saver.

I haven't learned about these machines. But I know if I get a migraine and my medications don't work after 1 day I go get a shot of impaprex. It helps me a lot. The last time I had a major migraine it lasted for 3 days. Couldn't move. I do dark rooms, ice packs and no one no one comes into the room. I throw up- and hate it.I take Paxil daily for prevention. Sometimes it works great but I find when I am stressed, overwhelmed after I relax it comes on. Carol

I had one heck of migraine yesterday, and I tried everything but nothing was helping so I too took some OTC for it and it helped until this morning I woke up. Basically I don't like taking more OTC because you can get a nasty rebound so I just been doing is relaxing and resting. Sometimes I put ice packs, meditate, relaxing techniques which helps.
