Migraine Medicine

Hi My name is Chrissy and I have migraines some times 3-4 times a week I have no idea what causes them. I have tried everything. I have a medical doctor that I go to that has prescribed me relpax which most of the time makes them go away. They help me to function. I don't know what I would do without the medication. It is expensive but well worth it.

margokittycat January 23 at 7:151 LikeI have taken relpax for about 4 years now. My doctor gave it to me when it was fairly new because Imetrex, Tramadahl and all the other meds did not work any more. I take Maxalt disolvables and they work but the relpax is the best especially if the migraine is bad.

I have always taken it after the headache has started if other meds did not work and it has always knocked it out. Depending on how sever the migraine is it maybe one that you have too take 2 hours after you take your initial pill. When I have had to do that the second dose takes it away an usually within a couple hours. The relpax is a 40mg tablet it is small and not hard to swollow it is about the size of a vitamin B 12 tablet. If you heat bananas or anything with banana in it try not eating that bananas are a huge migraine trigger.

I did not know that about bananas, I will stop eating those for a month or 2 to see if that is one of my big triggers. Thank you for that info…much appreciated.

You are so very welcome. I did not know that and someone I worked with told me that 3 years ago and I stopped eating them and it really helped I was amazed. I will eat one every so often and not have a problem now.

Yogurt is also another food that can be a trigger, and caffiene. I do not drink more than 24 oz of drinks with caffiene in thme a day, because I discovered that was a trigger. Citrus fruits can also be a trigger and for some people peanutbutter is one.

I am allergic to caffiene so I try & stay away from it the best I can. Yogurt I will pay closer attention to, because I do eat that. I have always had trouble figuring out my food triggers. Red meat is one that I do know of so I don't eat meat anymore & prefer it that way… Thanks again for more info.
