Topamax: Migraine drug ups risk for oral birth defects

An epilepsy drug also used to help prevent migraines can increase the risk for oral birth defects in babies born to women taking the medication, U.S. health officials said on Friday.

The Food and Drug Administration said new data shows expecting mothers taking the drug, sold generically and as Johnson & Johnson's Topamax, are about 20 times more likely to have their infants develop cleft lips or cleft palate deformities than those who are not treated.

tOPOMAX HAS NUMEROUS SIDE EFFECTS!

My neighbor calls Topamax "Dopamax," because she says she can't think (literally) and is like she's high all the time. I guess the trick is finding the right med for you.

I was on this pill it caused me a ton of heath problems
it drained the electrolytes out of my body and I had to be hospitalized probably at least once a month
I also lost a lot of weight on this medicine at one point i was done to 80 pounds
I also go numbness and tingling in my hands and feet
the medicine works to treat migraines really well but the side effects arent worth it usually
